Get set up in minutes through PartnerStack. No monthly targets, no minimum traffic requirements.
A complete store-management suite for Shopify merchants — one-click AI theme updates, automated backups, uptime monitoring, and premium sections. Every paid plan you refer earns 15%, recurring for 12 months.
If you're a Shopify agency, freelancer, developer, or content creator who regularly recommends themes to clients, there's now a formal way to get paid for it. The Pixel Union Partner Program — launching September 2026 — unifies four of Shopify's best-known theme brands into one affiliate program with a straightforward commission structure: 15% of every theme sale you refer, for up to 12 months per customer.
This article breaks down exactly how the program works, who it's designed for, and — most importantly — what the real earning numbers look like across every eligible theme.
The program is open to three main groups:
Shopify agencies and freelancers who build and launch stores for clients. You're already recommending themes — now you can earn on every one you sell in.
Content creators and educators who publish Shopify tutorials, reviews, or comparison content. A single high-traffic post or video referencing an eligible theme can generate commissions for months.
Consultants and coaches who advise merchants on their tech stack and regularly point clients toward quality themes.
There's no minimum traffic requirement and no monthly sales quota. As long as you're accepted into the program, your referral link stays active.
Every eligible theme across the four brands has a fixed retail price. When someone clicks your referral link and purchases a theme, you earn 15% of that full retail price as a commission. Shopify theme sales are one-time purchases (not subscriptions), so there's no recurring revenue after the initial sale — but the 12-month cap means that if the same customer purchases another theme or product from any of the brands within a year of their first click, that sale is also attributed to you.
Example: A client clicks your link and buys the Vino theme from Out of the Sandbox for $499. You earn $74.85 — immediately credited to your PartnerStack balance. If that same client later upgrades to Turbo within 12 months, you'd earn another $52.50.
Commissions are tracked through PartnerStack, which provides real-time reporting on clicks, conversions, and payouts. You can see exactly which theme sold, at what price, and when payment is due.
The program covers all paid themes from four brands. Here's the full breakdown by brand, with retail prices and your 15% commission per sale:

To make the numbers concrete, here are four realistic scenarios based on different types of partners:
In addition to one-time theme purchases, the program also covers TUA paid plans — Pixel Union's subscription for ongoing theme updates, priority support, and access to new theme versions. Referrals to TUA paid plans earn the same 15% commission on each plan purchased, with the 12-month attribution window applying to subscription renewals as well.
TUA eligibility and pricing details will be confirmed at launch. If you're recommending themes to clients who care about staying current with Shopify's evolving platform, TUA is a natural add-on conversation.
Applications open in September 2026. Sign up to be notified first — early partners will receive onboarding support and priority approval processing.
